Mapping the Way for God’s Church in God’s World
Wheaton, IL—What does a balanced Christian life look like? Some Christians emphasize missions, others discipleship, worship, or community. There’s a tendency to focus on one aspect of Christianity over another, and we argue over which biblical principles are the most important.
In Faithmapping, authors Mike Cosper and Daniel Montgomery suggest that an unequal emphasis leads to confusion, division, and a fragmented view of the Christian life. They write, “Faithmapping’s goal is to show how the gospel, the church, and our mission are a coherent, organic, interrelated whole, rather than distinct, independent ideas.” Aiming to help Christians cultivate unity within the church through a holistic view of the Christian life, the authors provide readers with a map to connect the gospel to the rest of their lives, their mission, and their place in the kingdom.
“We want a faith that has a sense of rootedness, that isn’t tossed about by marketing fads and celebrity pastors,” explain Cosper and Montgomery. “We need a map that shows us the way through the wilderness, one that shows us where we are, where we’re going, and what’s around us, with an invitation to explore and discover the wonders of God’s kingdom with God’s church in God’s world.”
